Developed by fitness pioneer, Joseph Pilates, Pilates training is a 80 year-old, therapeutic body conditioning system that simultaneously strengthens, stretches, tones, and aligns the body while eliminating excess tension and strain on the joints. It emphasizes natural, flowing movements performed on a mat or on a variety of specially designed equipment. Most celebrated of this equipment is the Universal Reformer, a unique apparatus which utilizes springs and controlled resistance.
